Preschool and Pre-K Program
Our program is designed to provide the highest quality in preschool education for 3-5-year olds. We are a Spanish dual language program that also provides continued development of English language and skills. The classrooms are set up to encourage individual skills and emerging interests in learning, creative expression, and social play. Preschoolers typically learn by doing and enjoy many activities focusing on the areas of arts and crafts, dramatic play, early writing skills, games, math, movement, music, science, and story time. We also focus on building preschoolers’ self-esteem, independence, and confidence.
3-Year-Old Class
This class provides age-appropriate activities geared for a ‘first-time’ preschool experience. It incorporates activities that are designed to increase attention span, develop listening skills, and encourage positive socialization. Music, art, science, and other experiences will enhance each child’s individual growth. We focus on methods and strategies for appropriate social interaction. With a growing understanding of the world, children begin to build self-confidence and competence. Along with various creative project-learning opportunities, our program offers hands-on learning activities to foster children’s confidence in early literacy, math, science, and social studies.
4-5-Year-Old Pre-K Class
Our 4 and 5-year-old class is designed for children who are preparing to enter kindergarten. Building onto their experiences in Preschool, our Pre-K students begin to show competence in early literacy and math concepts. Our various imaginative and creative learning activities foster their continuous growth in their creative development. Children are challenged to think critically, problem-solve, and gain independence. Learning is interactive with plenty of opportunities for children to explore their interests and develop kindergarten readiness skills.
Our preschool program is play based. We provide an environment that fosters creativity and exploration. Our work with children and families is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach around the following key principles:
IMAGE OF THE CHILD
We view children as co-constructors of their own learning, capable of developing their own theories and contributing to the shared knowledge of a school community.
THE 100 LANGUAGES
As children learn, materials become languages of expression. We offer a rich variety of materials and expose children to creative techniques that give life to their theories and ideas.
PROJECT WORK
Through long- and short-term projects, children become invested in their interests and learn how to work together for a common goal.
ROLE OF THE ENVIRONMENT
The school environment serves as a “third teacher”, engaging children’s interests, inspiring learning, and supporting autonomy.
PROBLEM SOLVING
It is developmentally appropriate for children to encounter problems and conflicts as they learn how to navigate socially and emotionally. These challenges invite opportunities for growth and learning. Problem solving strengthens children’s sense of self and facilitates positive peer relationships.
